Multicultural Education for Children through Videoconference

KIDS INITIATIVE
Teachers Training Course

The World Bank Global Development Learning Network Asia Pacific (GDLN-AP) has developed a Teachers Training Course to accompany KIDS INITIATIVE, a multicultural education program for children using videoconference. The instructor plays a vital role in conducting a successful KIDs session, providing guidance to children from planning to delivery. The Training Course has been created with international experts and is designed to enhance instructional skills with a focus on the effective use of videoconference.

The Training Course consists of four 3-hour modules and includes a videoconference lecture, discussion, case studies and assignments. Of the 9 participating countries for this program (Fiji,Japan, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam), 3-5 locations will be connected for each module, providing an opportunity for experts and instructors to exchange information across borders.

The main lecturer will be Dr. Christopher Tan, an international expert on the use of technology in education and consultant to education ministries in the U.S., China, Hong Kong etc.

Primary and secondary school teachers, practitioners who engage in multicultural education for children are welcome. All modules will be conducted in English. Consecutive translation from English to local language will be provided for participants at each country. Free of charge.

The first Module will be given in December 2007. If you are interested in participating, please contact the GDLN Distance Learning Center of your choice.
